Networking While Knitting & Crocheting!

Are you new to these creative crafts? No worries! NJAWBO member, Theresa Macklin, owner of Beyond Yarn, will host this relaxing NJAWBO event, where you can experience the joy of knitting and/or crocheting in a small group setting. She and her team will illustrate these two crafts, which are known to promote improved mental and physical health.

Some of the benefits of crafting include improved focus, improved concentration, improved motor skills, calming affect, ability to relax, and socializing.

Each participant will receive a Knit/Crochet Kit, which includes the following:

2 needles/5 crochet hooks
Instruction booklet with patterns
stitch markers
scissors
ruler gauge
5 mini balls of cotton yarn
a notebook

Salad and assorted baked goods will also be provided.

Event goals:

Completing a project
Increase ability to focus and concentration
Improve ability to follow directions
Improve motor skills
Build confidence
Turn to knitting/crocheting as a source of relaxation

Project outline:

Small groups in which to begin learning how to knit/crochet
Participants will receive all the supplies needed.
Instruction will be given on the skills needed to be successful in the class.
A brief history of the craft and uses of items made
Highlight of people including children who use this craft to make a living
Types of tools used – knitting needles and crochet hooks
Types of yarn
Basic terminology
Basic stitches
Following pattern instructions

Remember, shared interests can spark friendship, discussions, and begin the relationships that can lead to referrals and revenue over time.
